Amfitriti Belvedere

Despite the fact that the building Amfitriti Belvedere is old, it doesn’t have the traditional neoclassic elements of Nafplio’s architecture. Feeling free of the commitments of the urban style, the decorator Vasilis Meritas applied all the colours of iris in order to perform the atmosphere of an old hospitable house, without giving a mirror restoration.
For the bed-covers, the curtains and the furniture’s upholstery, were used bright and joyous cotton material, stripped or plain in unique combinations.
Modern lights of the firm Artemide, kartell and Foscanni as well as handmade carpets of the firm Bouhara and handmade furniture are placed in all spaces.
From the old mansion remained the iron bed-backs which were repaired and reused. For all the furniture were used techniques of artificial obsolescence and various colours.
A pleasant combination between different periods and temper was the result of all the above.
The previous owner had converted the mansion into a pansion but remained closed for a long time.
It is one of the few buildings in town which affords, a great garden and even from the ground floor the view is astonishing.
From the windows one can see over the town roofs up to the sea and Bourzi and from the opposite side, Palamidi castle.
Amfitriti Belvedere is build so high, that you have the impression of being on boat. Therefore it’s owners dominated the seven rooms with the names of winds. “Ostria”, “Gregos”, “Sorokos”, “Levandes”, “Pounentes”, “Skiron” and “Garbis” differ totally among them, not only in dimensions but in colours too.
